100k School Debt to Financial Freedom – FINAL Merch by Amazon Update

Hello Fellow Merchers! Melissa here (aka “the girlfriend”) to wrap up this year-long case study.  Where have the last 12 months gone?! Anyway, let’s jump right in and discuss the highs, the lows, mistakes and the realities of selling via Merch By Amazon. As mentioned in the first month’s write-up, my Merch journey started in August 2016 when I was accepted to the program. At that time I had just finished up my first Bachelor’s degree (Psychology) and decided that I wanted to pursue a career in medicine. In the midst of applying to Nursing school Neil got the itch to leave Madison, Wisconsin and move to good ole Colorado. I quit my full time job back home, didn’t know […]

How To Mask Images In The Merch Informer Products Designer

Masking an image is probably one of the most exiciting things you can do in the new Merch Informer Products Designer and something I have been playing around with the last few days. This feature is a little bit “hidden” so let me go through a few things you can do with it. If you have no idea what masking an image is, think of it as making the background of any text or shape a separate image. Step 1: Add some text The first step is to add some text. As an example I am going to use the text: New York on a white t-shirt. Step 2: Add your mask image In the menu, select images. Drag the […]

Merch Informer Products Designer UPDATE!

We have already pushed multiple updates to the designer after hearing the community response. To make sure everything is working; please make sure you clear your cookies and cache in your browser before you log back in. In no particular order here are the updates! 1: We changed the way the designs scale when you download them. This means that when you upload them to Merch by Amazon, the design will fill the entire area instead of having padding on each side. They will no longer look “small”. Notice on the example image that the text now reaches the edges when uploaded. 2: We changed the way that designs are downloaded if you are on iOS. You will now receive […]

Keyword Research Friday – Merch Informer Made Easy

Just finishing up some keyword research to send off to my designers and thought I would share part of my process. Apologies I am posting this a day late, but this is just one easy way you can utilize Merch Informer to save a bunch of time and find a bunch of untapped niches. Step 1: Find a starting place Typically when I sit down in the morning, I have no idea what I want to research for that day. I was thinking about getting to the “decision maker” in any business and realized that you first have to get past the “secretary” which is where I started my search. Step 2: Niche down Secretaries work hard and are often […]

Announcing The New Merch by Amazon Keyword Tool – Search Volume Added!

When it comes to finding great keywords for your Merch by Amazon product, we have you covered. We introduced the Keyword Finder Module within Merch Informer soon after the software launched, but about a month ago, we made it even better. The community has asked for it, so we made it a reality. Merch Informer has added search volume inside of the Merch by Amazon keyword tool. I know a lot of people are using MI alongside other tools that bring back keyword volume but that is no longer needed. Here is how it all works. Step 1: Log In You will be presented with the dashboard. The menu is on the left hand side of all the features we […]

Merch by Amazon Success: Interview with RJ Martinez

A lot of you might already be familiar with RJ Martinez through a multitude of channels. I have heard through many people it was because of him that they got involved with Merch by Amazon after they found his YouTube channel documenting his journey. Through transparency in numbers, RJ has built up a following from Youtube, to Facebook, and just recently a podcast. He hosts a talk with Matt Sheeran who we just interviewed on the blog called Real Talk. Some of these answers might be a little dated as we got this put up a month or so ago and then we got really deep into some Merch Informer updates (which we will talk about soon!). Better late than […]

100k School Debt to Financial Freedom – Merch by Amazon Update 11

March was one of those slower months in terms of what happened in the world of Merch by Amazon but also how the business of this account has been running. Earnings were up a bit and it looks like search visibility is slowly changing in our favor once again as sellers. As we are nearing the 12 month mark of this case study, my girlfriend has really started to look at putting more systems in place for her business and is now focused a bit more on delegation to scale up outside of just a single account. This is what we are mainly going to talk about in this month’s study. I think it is important that once you “get […]
